The two local fast bowlers will represent the SA team in the Future Cup in Kimberley in April

RH CONSTRUCTION uThungulu cricketers Neill Jordan and Freedom Buthelezi have been selected for the South African Rural Cricket team after their stand-out performances for the KZN Coastal Rural side at the Rural South African Cricket Week in the Boland last week.

The two local fast bowlers will represent the SA team in the Future Cup in Kimberley in April, and then play in a round robin tournament with Namibia A, Zimbabwe A and Boland later this year.

KZN Coastal Rural managed to win four out of their five limited overs matches and finished second overall on the log just behind North West Rural.

The local side got their tournament off to a solid start last Thursday with a 60 run victory over Border Village Rural.

Ruan Janse van Rensburg’s top score of 30 aided his side’s tally to 170 all out.

Thanks to Imtiaz Hatiya, who ended with figures of 5/10 in 8, Border were dismissed for 110.

Unfortunately it turned out to be a black Friday for the KZN outfit in the second round when they went down by 5 wickets to Eastern Province Rural.

KZN made 158/9 thanks to Buthelezi who remained unbeaten in the middle on 59.

But Eastern Province Rural reached 159/5 to claim a comfortable victory.

Buthelezi finished with bowling figures of 2/17 in 4, with Jordan posting 2/44 in 10.
