That’s what friends are for

Learners share terrific bond with classmate

FACING the demands of your matric year is stressful enough, but for Pranav Rambaran, a Grade 12 learner at Empangeni High School, it became even tougher with the passing of his father earlier this month.

Pranesh Rambaran, an optometrist with Moffatt Optical, sadly passed away after a brave fight against cancer.

Losing a father is devastating and in support of their dear friend Pranav, six of his school friends braved the razor and shaved off all their hair to help Pranav through this sad time, giving him the courage to get through each day.

Culturally, in the case of the death of a family member in the Hindi tradition, the bereaved shave off their all their hair.

‘Our bond with Pranav is unbreakable and by doing this our friendship grew stronger,’ his fellow learners said.

‘March is also the month of cancer awareness so we are also spreading the message and giving support to the cause and to those fighting the disease.’
