Bridgette puts up a fight
Zululand's Olympic sprint canoeist Bridgette Hartley put in a strong challenge
ZULULAND’S Olympic sprint canoeist Bridgette Hartley put in a strong challenge in the women’s section of the Dusi Marathon.
In her debut in the long-distance event, she finished third overall behind Abby Solms and Christie Mackenzie.
Andy Birkett took the men’s honours, beating Sbonela Khwela and Thulani Mbanjwa who finished second and third respectively.
This year’s Dusi Canoe was challenging as competitors dealt with the heat of the Valley of a Thousand Hills and low water levels in the Dusi and Umgeni rivers.
See the Zululand Observer Weekender edition for results of local paddlers.
