IT was sweet revenge for RH Construction uThungulu when they bounced back with a bonus point Premier League away win over Clares on Saturday.
Having been at the hands of a nine-wicket thrashing against the same opponents at Addison Park four weeks ago, nobody saw this result coming.
It was especially astonishing after uThungulu, batting first, had slumped to a below par 110 all out inside the allotted 50 overs.
Ruan van Rensburg, having a great season, fared best with a top score of 31.
Together with Neil Jordan (24) they somewhat rescued the situation after the top order collapsed once again, taking the total into three figures.
And with Clares’ formidable line-up chasing a mediocre target, another quick conclusion was on the cards.
That proved exactly the case – but not the way the smug home side were anticipating.
Step up the uThungulu speed merchants!
Neil Jordan and Freedom Buthelezi – a superb right arm/left arm combination – were virtually unplayable as they wielded the new ball with venom.
Wickets fell with monotony as big man Jordan, bowling at tremendous pace, capped a fine day with stats of 4/25.
Buthelezi was equally on form, claiming three scalps for 31 runs, while Van Rensburg underlined his all-round ability with two wickets.
