eSHOWE Visible Policing Unit members manning a road block on the eNtumeni/eShowe road last Sunday, struck gold when they pulled over a fully-laden taxi.
They searched the vehicle and found a passenger in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and 14 live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect, Celumusa Ntshangase (32), appeared in eShowe Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The case was remanded to 22 February while the firearm is subjected to a ballistic testing.
