AN elderly couple residing in the quiet Khula village, just outside St Lucia, woke up to their worst nightmare at 3am on Friday.
According to outraged DA PR Councillor at the Mtubatuba Municipality, Annacletah Mabika, three knife-wielding robbers held the home owners hostage for two hours and raped the woman in front of her husband.
‘This is a peaceful place where people retire,’ said Mabika.
‘There were break-ins in the area during the festive season, but nothing this shocking has ever occurred.
‘These men could just have taken the TV and other electronics, but instead they assaulted and traumatised a totally defenceless couple.
‘Property owners are organising a meeting to arrange strict security in the village and I have reported the incident to the municipality.’
