Staffers promote charity initiative

When the water crisis struck last year, we visited the school to deliver bottled water to the learners and were so impressed by their cheerful smiles, politeness and good manners

STAFF at Mhlathuze Water initiated an ‘adopt a child’ school uniform challenge and last week handed over school uniforms to 29 learners at Floraton Primary School.

According to Mhlathuze Water’s Megan Govender, staff members contributed in their personal capacity and spearheaded the drive challenging their fellow colleagues to purchase socks, shoes, pants, shirts and dresses for the learners.

‘When the water crisis struck last year, we visited the school to deliver bottled water to the learners and were so impressed by their cheerful smiles, politeness and good manners.

‘We wanted to do something special for them and so identified the school to benefit from our school uniform project.

‘The project is an initiative rolled out by the staff members and is solely their personal contributions.

‘Last year we donated uniforms to a school outside eShowe and we are so trilled to support Floraton Primary and help make these few learners’ learning experience a more comfortable one.

‘We hope this will encourage them to work harder at school and strive to achieve their dreams,’ she said.
