Traffic cops arrest Golf GTI driver near Mtunzini

GINGINDLOVU Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) officers on Tuesday arrested a man who was caught travelling at a reported 235km/h on the N2 near Mtunzini.

The 31-year-old who is from Richards Bay will appear in the Mtunzini Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

The man was driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI.

He is facing charges of reckless and negligent driving as well as exceeding the speed limit on a national highway.

By law, officers can arrest a motorist if caught travelling more than  40km/h faster than the speed limit.

The court in question is known for showing no mercy to speedsters owing to the amount of cases involving road traffic violations brought before its magistrates.
