WATCH: Fire danger on John Ross Parkway
Traffic officers are manning the road between the Hillside Smelter bridge on-ramp and the Alton Robots.
VISIBILTY is down to almost zero as a fierce bush fire pumps thick white smoke across the John Ross Parkway.
Traffic officers are manning the road between the Hillside Smelter bridge on-ramp and the Alton Robots.
That section of highway is extremely dangerous at present and should be avoided if possible – the recommended route is via Alton.
The bush blaze began opposite the Bayside Smelter and has quickly spread as the strong southwester pumps in the direction of the Richards Bay CBD.
The area around Dollar Drive and Bullion Boulevard is enveloped in smoke.
It is hoped the fire will not jump across the John Ross Parkway.
