WITH five distinctions, Maryke Le Roux is ready to reach for the stars – including those in Hollywood.
The Christian High learner who aced the most As in her school – in Afrikaans, business studies, dramatic arts, English and life orientation – is soon heading to Cape Town to enroll at the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (Afda).
‘I love drama. It was my favourite subject and I am excited to learn all the know-hows in the film industry.
‘Five distinctions is definitely great news!
‘I had no idea what to expect with the exams having been quite challenging.’
She thanked God and her close-knit family for their unwavering support.
Richards Bay Christian School Principal Bev Chambler congratulated Maryke as well as Luca Singels, who achieved three distinctions in Afrikaans, mathematics and information technology.
‘Well done to our matrics for their efforts, which include our top aggregate learners Maryke and Luca.
‘The Richards Bay Christian School matric results of 2016 reaffirm the school’s position to provide quality education, preparing students holistically to write the IEB examinations since 2005.
‘The class of 2016 achieved a 100% pass rate, and 100% have qualified for tertiary studies.
‘The results reflect the diversity of strengths within the group of students, sporting excellent achievements across a range of subjects.
‘It is a challenge to prepare our students for the rigours of IEB assessments, but encouraging that 61% of all our student subject results are 60% and above.’
