Guitarist shares her talents
'Dreaming to be someone else is a waste of who you are'

SHARING her passion for music comes naturally for Michelle Hall, a music teacher from Felixton who specialises in guitar lessons.
The 20-year-old born and bred Zululander opened Mish’s Guitar School to encourage the youth, but also people of all ages to prove that one is never too old to learn and embrace creativity.
Her vision is to have more community members actively involved in expanding the music scene.
From a young age, Michelle has always been a ‘daddy’s girl’ and tagged along with her father who is a top class guitarist himself.
‘I have always admired my dad and he taught me everything I know, using loads of patience, compassion and love.
‘I eventually met a group of talented musicians who, with my father, encouraged me to sing and embrace my talents and we formed a band Keep It Funky and we continue rocking the local live music scene.
‘For me the quote ‘the strength of a tree begins in its roots’ rings true as I have definitely had a strong foundation.’
Music is not her full-time career. Hall is an aspiring teacher and currently works as a teaching assistant at a private intervention centre for children with neurological disorders in Empangeni.
Her hobbies revolve around her work and music and being outgoing and bubbly, with just a hint of being a control freak, definitely helps her in her career as an aspiring teacher and guitar instructor.
‘There are two important things that I try to live by on a daily basis.
‘The first is to always listen to your mother – if you are lucky enough to have one as amazing as mine. You will learn to put your trust in God and the importance of always moving forward.
‘And a quote from my favourite musician Kurt Cobain, ‘Dreaming to be someone else is a waste of who you are’, speaks for itself.’
