South Africans, the world remember Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela has been trending on Twitter since early yesterday morning

YESTERDAY marked the third anniversary of the death of Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s greatest icon.
Madiba died at his home in Houghton, Johannesburg, at age 95, following bouts of illnesses spanning several years.
His death, although expected at the time, was grieved by countrymen and foreign followers alike. In memory of the father of the nation, the Nelson Mandela Foundation intends to host an event to celebrate the life and times of Madiba, the Citizen reported.
On the eve of the burial of Fidel Castro, the Royal House of Mandela also paid tribute to “a hero, friend and comrade”. Castro died late last month.“President Nelson Mandela acknowledged Cuba’s contribution when he visited Havana in 1991, shortly after his release from prison,” the Foundation said.
“He remains an inspiration to us as South Africans, as he and the brave Cuban nation fought side by side for our liberation.”
Social media has been inundated with messages from all over the globe, heaping praise on the man who many will forever revere as having brought freedom to the people.
