HUNDREDS of runners assembled at the uMhlathuze Regional Sports Complex on Sunday morning for the King Dingiswayo Marathon hosted by the Imamba Athletics Club.

The route took athletes from the sports complex to the Owen Sithole Stadium.

Bheka Sithole was the ‘main man’ of the event, finishing the 42.2km route in a time of 1.56.12, with Iris Ndlovu taking home the women’s title in 2.30.22.

Nkosinathi Sibiya (men) and Xoli Ndaba (women) were the respective winners of the 10km run with times of 53.04 and 52.13.

Women – 1 Iris Ndlovu 2.30.22, 2 Zethu Mnyandu 2.56.35, 3 Brenda Badenhorst 3.04.00.

Men – 1 Bheka Sithole 1.56.12, 2 Thelumusa Sibiya 2.25.10, 3 Philani Memela 2.33.15.
