ERC and Impis through to darts finals
The first team to reach six wins will be crowned champions

EMPANGENI Rugby Club (ERC) will make its debut in the Empangeni Darts League finals on Wednesday evening when they take on Impis at Empangeni Rugby Club.
The team, captained by Pieter van Rooyen, managed to win the cricket play-off game against Undertakers to progress to this week’s final after the game was tied up at 5-5.
‘Our team was a little shaky and did not play their normal game owing to the pressure applied by the opposition, but we managed to pull it through in the end,’ said Van Rooyen.
The captain stepped up in the play-off game, nailing triple one, single 20 and a triple 14 (total score of 65) which handed his team the win.
‘When I hit the trip one and a single 20, I thought I must just aim for 14 to stay safe and not give the last wicket away and hand Undertakers the game.

Undertakers pushed ERC down to the wire and were very unlucky not to snatch the win, needing just one wicket for victory.
‘I’m proud of how extremely well my team played. Ending one’s season off in the semi-finals is awesome. We will be back next season,’ said Undertakers captain Daniel Morgan.
In the second semi-final, Impis put defending champions Hullets to the sword, beating them 6-2 at the Moth Hall.
‘Our team played excellent darts, delivering under pressure. Hullets was by no means an easy game, they were just unlucky tonight,’ said Impis captain Vleis van der Westhuizen.

‘We were a little unlucky, the guys did not throw their darts to the usual standard and crumbled under the pressure.
One must never play the opponent, only the board,’ said Hullets captain Herman Steyn.
The finals will start at 6.30pm, with teams competing in cricket, nomination killer and 501.
The first team to reach six wins will be crowned champions.
