Motorcade raises drug awareness in city

A COMMUNITY march against drugs initiated by the King Cetshwayo District Municipality turned into a motorcade in the Richards Bay central business district and Aquadene and Brackenham suburbs on Thursday morning.

Starting at the City of uMhlathuze municipal offices, a convoy of vehicles made a stopover at the Richards Bay taxi rank where officials of the the King Cetshwayo District and City of uMhlathuze municipalities, Richards Bay Community Policing Forum members and Richards Bay SAPS representatives addressed vendors and commuters about taking a stand against drugs.

Thereafter the convoy proceeded to the Richards Bay Sports Complex, drove through Aquadene and then assembled at the Brackenham Community Hall for a formal programme.

Richards Bay CPF Chairperson Robert Mbuyazi thanked the district municipality for the initiative and encouraged the community to fight drugs as it is destroying communities.
