Promoting basketball in Zululand
The Bounce players will be visiting townships around uMhlathuze doing more mass coaching clinics

BOUNCE Basketball Development organiser Malusi Radebe says the aim of the initiative is to revive the culture of basketball in the district.
‘We hope to achieve this by visiting all five local municipalities to create a culture of basketball, create structures to run the game and have links with other school sports. Our programme will include teaching life skills as well.
Radebe said the movement began seven months ago, at which time they visited uMhlathuze townships doing coaching clinics and life skills programmes.
Eight schools participated – six from eSikhaleni two from eNseleni.
‘Currently there is a basketball league with these six teams. There is also a team playing in the eThekwini Basketball League, representing King Cetshwayo District and called the Richards Bay iButho, currently ranked number one in the league.
The Bounce players will be visiting townships around uMhlathuze doing more mass coaching clinics with the aim of hosting a major clinic and a tournament for children.
Radebe said they have started talks with other municipalities such as uMfolozi, uMlalazi and Mthonjaneni.
