Refurbished Zini boardwalk opened
Mtunzini businesses and individuals pulled together to support the R150 000 project

THE Mtunzini Round Table has long been involved in the betterment of the beach in the uMlalazi Nature Reserve.
One of the projects in which they have been involved is the upgrading of the boardwalk leading from the car park to the beach.
Originally the boardwalk was constructed using wooden poles and planks, but these have not stood up to the weather condistions and had to be replaced.
A supplier of recycled plastic products was sourced and replacement planks were obtained from Ecology Plastics.
Although the refurbishment of the boardwalk is ongoing, the first stage was recently officially opened with uMlalazi municipal councillor Keith Powell cutting the ribbon.
Also at the ceremony was Karin Maiden of Ecology Plastics, manager of the uMlalazi Nature Reserve Trueman Buthelezi, project manager of Mtunzini Round Table Steve de Lange and other interested parties who helped with the project.
Mtunzini businesses and individuals pulled together to support the R150 000 project.
These included the Mtunzini Round Table (R83 700), Mtunzini SuperSpar (R10 000), Road Island Service Station (R8 000) and the Wallace family (R7 000).
De Lange thanked all the sponsors for their donations.
