NOTICE: Volunteers needed at Alkantstrand on Saturday

Volunteers are needed to assist in the collection of driftwood

ZO Editor Dave Savides, also an Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife member has just put out an urgent appeal to environment lovers.

‘We have reported on the dead Humpback Whale that washed up at the Caravan Park area.

‘The carcass is now rotting, but in spite of this people are chopping it up for food – a huge health risk.

‘The only option is to incinerate (burn) the carcass.

‘We will be doing this from around 7am tomorrow (Saturday) morning. Some of us will be there from six.

‘WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to assist in collecting driftwood off the beach to use for the fire. Fortunately there is tons on the beach after the recent storms.

‘Better still, bring any wood or highly inflammable substances you have at home.

‘Ezemvelo is giving permission to drive on the beach from the lifeguard house, where will meet, to the Caravan Park.

‘Spread the word – let’s give this majestic creature a decent cremation!’

No children primary school or younger please.
