UPDATE: Knife attacker remanded in custody

The security personnel are still receiving treatment in hospital

THE youngster implicated in the stabbing of two security company personnel outside the Brackenham Centre’s Caltex Garage on Friday, has been remanded in custody.

Austin Naidoo (19) appeared in the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday for attempted murder and the matter was postponed for medical reports and further investigation.

The accused appeared to have sustained injuries and was ordered to undergo a medical examination.

The youngster attacked ward 26 councillor Leslie Joseph in his vehicle in the parking lot at the Brackenham Centre.

When a staff member came to offer Joseph help, he was stabbed, as were the two security officers who came to assist.

The staff member did not sustain major injuries, however the security personnel are still receiving treatment in hospital.
