Gathering of the cancer fighters

Rotary Anns raise a whopping R10 500 for CANSA uThungulu

ALL was tickled pink at the Rotary Anns’ breast cancer awareness tea on Saturday where community members gathered to raise funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) uThungulu district.

Guest speakers Dr Gunter Kelling (specialist surgeon), Dr Dave Nisbet (radiologist) and Jonathan Holtzhausen (Cansa uThungulu Regional Manager) all stressed the importance of regular check-ups and mammograms.

‘No woman should die of breast cancer,’ stated Dr Kelling.

The event, held at Blue Marlin Guesthouse in Richards Bay, raised a whopping R10 500 for the local Cansa branch.

‘Breast cancer awareness is very important to the Rotary Anns, because some of us have been directly affected by breast cancer and have many friends and family that have suffered from it,’ said Rotary Ann President Diane Gray.

‘We are also very lucky to know a lot of people that have conquered breast cancer and many other forms of cancer.

‘A big thank you must go to the Rotary Anns for making the morning such a success and a thank you to all the ladies that decorated their tables so beautifully,’ said Diane.
