Time for matrics to focus

'Hard work and dedication will earn you these things'

KING Cetshwayo District education director David Chonco has conveyed his best wishes to the 2016 matric class.

He encouraged matriculants to stay focused and steer clear of distractions.

‘It is that time of year again when exams are on the horizon. This can be a very stressful time of year, however I encourage you to stay focused.

‘This may seem like the most difficult time in your life, but believe me, you will face more difficulties later in life.

‘My message to you is to never give up. Continue to move forward with confidence and believe in yourself. May I further remind you that your background has no influence on your goals and aspirations.

‘It is your self-belief, courage, patience and hard work which will lead you to a bright and prosperous future, not the home you live in or the car your parents drive, neither the brand of clothing you wear or the latest mobile phone.

‘Hard work and dedication will earn you these things.’

Chonco also paid tribute to education officials, parents, organised labour, religious and traditional leadership and the business sector for the hard work, guidance, extra input and support they provided to ensure that learners are thoroughly prepared for the examinations.

He appealed to parents to monitor their children’s activities and ensure that social activities are kept at a minimum during the exam time.
