UPDATE: Taxi owner murder case in high court

The body of Mbonwa was found decomposed in some bushes in the Hluhluwe area in August

FIVE accused charged with the kidnapping, robbery and the murder of Richards Bay meter taxi owner Sibongiseni Mbonwa, will appear in the Pietermaritzburg High Court today (Thursday) for consultation with the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to decide which high court will prosecute the matter.

Suspects Brian Nxumalo (26), Siyabonga Nxumalo (21), Ndodo Mnguni (28), Thabani Bukhosini(24) and Fanizani Mdletshe (25) have been remanded in custody.

The body of Mbonwa was found decomposed in some bushes in the Hluhluwe area in August.

The 39-year-old deceased was reported missing after he left home on 16 July in his silver-grey Polo and never returned.

It is believed the suspects, who are from Hluhluwe, hired Mbonwa and later hijacked, robbed and murdered him, disposing of his body.
