Power punches in the Bay
4th Dan Taekwondo expert presents self-defense course in the Bay

‘PICK yourself a guy with pajama pants and let’s go.’
And with that, martial arts expert Sean Cremer of the International Taekwondo Federation literally kicked off a self-defence seminar, aimed at giving martial arts dummies a better chance of getting out of a pickle.
But only if you can’t outrun the threat, he warned.
Cremer, a senior instructor of the federation, holds a 4th Dan in taekwondo, but is skilled in a plethora of other fighting disciplines, backed with field experience in conflict zones.
He was hosted by local instructor, 4th Dan Bruce Lee Madura at the Richards Bay Stingers Taekwon-Do Club on Saturday at Arboretum Primary School and also earlier presented a technical seminar for club fighters.

Picking the high belt ‘volunteers’, Cremer demonstrated nerve pinches, clinches, punches and other painful moves to shame Steven Seagal and Chuck Norris, leaving his sparring partners hiding behind their mates.
Punting running away as the first option out of danger, Cremer showed how everyday objects can be used to fend off an attacker, incorporating legal aspects and potential consequences of overstepping the boundaries of self-defence.
Madura and a team of instructors moved through the participants to correct moves and prevent broken noses and dislocated joints.
The three-hour workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by all – especially those who had their husbands as their sparring partners.
