WARNING: Sewage leak into Mzingazi Canal

Bathers, fishermen and paddlers warned to stay out of the water

TENS of thousands of litres of sewage water has entered the Mzingazi Canal while maintenance work was in progress at the John Ross Parkway and Medway intersection.

The sewage flowed into the Canal for almost three hours.

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife District Officer Frans Mthembu has warned bathers, fishermen and paddlers to stay out of the water for at least two days.

Those affected include the Zululand Yacht Club, Meerensee Boat Club, Sea Scouts, residents at the Mzingazi waterfront and any anglers along the banks of the canal.

This is a developing story.
