Records tumble by half a dozen

Catch the Saints inter-house athletics action

HALF a dozen records tumbled at the annual St Catherine’s School Inter-house athletics day held recently.

St Dominic’s Mpho Ndaba set four new records on his way to the Junior Victor Ludorum.

Ndaba broke the following records in the U13 boys age group – long jump 4.14m (3.88m old record), 100m 14:25 seconds (14:65 seconds), 150m 21:59 seconds (22:51 seconds) and 800m 3:01:50 (3:19:20).

Fellow house member Betty Adetiba jumped passed two old standing records on her way to the Junior Victrix Ludorum in the girls U13 age group, namely long jump 4.15m (4.14m old record) and high jump 1.39m (1.38m).

In the high school section, Sarah Giles of St Martins House was awarded the Senior Victrix Ludorum for her outstanding efforts in both the track and field events.

When all the points were tallied, it was St Dominics who claimed the 2016 House trophy with 876 points, followed by St Martins on 604 points and St Thomas on 593 points.

St Martins received the Best Supporting House award after making their voices heard.
