A YOUNG girl who had to live through the pain of being constantly raped by her biological father for years, finally regained her power when her rapist was locked away for good on Friday.
Her 58-year-old father from Ngwelezana was sentenced to life in prison after he was found guilty of rape at the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court.
Reports revealed the father took the girl’s innocence when she was still attending pre-primary school.
The abuse intensified when the victim lost her mother at the age of 10.
With no one to protect her and depending on the father for survival, the young girl had to bear the abuse and the man continued to take advantage of her at their home in Ngwelezana.
Eventually a social worker noticed something was wrong with the girl and once trust was established, the facts emerged.
A case was opened in February last year at the Empangeni Police Station and the father was arrested and charged with rape.
The case was then transferred to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit for investigation.
The father will spend the remainder of his days at the Qalakabusha Correctional Centre in Empangeni.
