It’s a Grantleigh-Felixton show
The second round of the Cricket South Africa schools 20/20 competition was held at Felixton College.
IN-FORM Felixton College batsman Sheldon Getkate played yet another match-winning innings to help his side beat uThungulu by eight wickets in the second round of the Cricket South Africa schools 20/20 competition at Felixton College.
Getkate, who scored 45 in the previous week’s clash against Richardsbaai Hoërskool (RBHS), knocked 38 not out.
Felixton won the toss and elected to have a crack with the cherry.
uThungulu put on a respectable 108/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Michael Dalais proved a thorn in the uThungulu side’s attack, however, taking 2/13 in four overs.
Felixton then raced to 111/2 in 13 overs to steal a comfortable victory.
Getkate was ably assisted by Reikert Viljoen who scored 28 not out.
The Grantleigh/RBHS game at Grantleigh was a cliffhanger.
RBHS won the toss and elected to bat first, putting on 101/7 in their time at the crease.
Hentie Marais 40 off 55 balls and all-rounder Roland Fourie 29 off 13 balls made the Grantleigh bowlers sweat.
Josh Harvey 2/18 in four overs and Jonathan Hunter 1/13 were the pick of the home team’s bowlers.
Grantleigh started off their innings with confidence and were on track to an easy victory until the batsmen decided to give the Bay boys some catching practice, which resulted in four quick wickets falling.
But Timothy Russell 21 off 21 balls (not out) and Jonathan Hunter 14 off 14 balls (not out) showed displayed big match temperament and guided their side home with onlt three balls left to bowl.
Grantleigh reached 102/4 to claim a six-wicket victory, but Roland Fourie 2/8 in 3.3 overs made them work for it.
These results have set up a cracker of a final on Wednesday when Grantleigh take on hosts Felixton College.
The winners progress to Durban for the provincial round.
Richardsbaai Hoërskool and uThungulu will also be in action on Wednesday at Richardsbaai Hoërskool.
