One dead in KwaMsane garage shooting

The deceased sustained 16 bullet wounds on his upper body.

A 30-year-old man, Sakhile Buthelezi, was shot and killed and his friend sergeant Sandile Nxumalo (42) of the KwaMsane SAPS wounded by unknown suspects at the Bhoboza garage in KwaMsane on Tuesday.

It is reported the the deceased and three friends were seated in a car when two unknown suspects approached and started shooting.

Buthelezi, in the driver’s seat, was fatally hit and the sergeant wounded. The other occupants ran for safety.

The deceased sustained 16 bullet wounds on his upper body.

According to reports Buthelezi was armed with a 9mm Norinco pistol with four live rounds, but failed to use it.

The weapon’s serial number had been filed off.

The police sergeant suffered three gunshot wounds, and was rushed to Netcare The Bay Hospital for treatment.

The KwaMsane detectives are investigating cases of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and request anyone with information to contact the investigating officer, sergeant Simosethu Simelane on 035 5519016 or 082 2267626.
