De Beer takes on his hero

These two fighters bring different styles to the ring

LOCAL professional cage fighter Martin ‘The Diamond’ de Beer has three weeks to get into fighting mode, before he takes on Adbul ‘Hollywood’ Hassan in a bantamweight fight at EFC 54 on Saturday 15 October at Sun City.

De Beer came off a solid win earlier this month, when he beat Jasen ‘Money’ van der Merwe at EFC 53, to record his fifth professional career win.

Martin’s stats look better than his opponent’s with 5 wins and one loss, compared to six wins, six losses and one draw.

But Hassan brings experience, having already 13 professional fights under his belt, which is more than double the number that Martin was.

The 39-year-old, who fights under Rhyne Hassan out of Gorgeous Boyz Hardcore in Durban, has a slight reach advantage, with 171.5cm compared to De Beer who only reaches 1.66cm.

These two fighters bring different styles to the ring, with Hassan practising unorthodox martial arts, combined with a respected ground game and De Beer being a conditioned dexterous martial artist who uses his range effectively and is able to chase and get in front of his opponent.

But the 26-year-old will not go into this fight lightly, as he takes on a guy that he respects and looks up to, one he watched when he was a youngster.

Anyone interested in sponsoring Martin, can inbox him on Facebook or contact his coach Tienie de Beer on 083 2597036.
