City in TV spotlight

The SABC Morning Live crew, including the cast of the soapie 'Generations', was at the Zululand Yacht Club for a live broadcast

THE eyes of South Africa were on the City of uMhlathuze today (Friday) when the SABC’s Morning Live breakfast show was broadcast directly from the Zululand Yacht Club (ZYC).

Despite the overcast, rainy conditions, the production team and guests – who included the cast of TV soapie ‘Generations’ and MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Mike Mabuyakhulu – were impressed with the picturesque setting on the banks of the Mzingazi Canal.

Central to the programme were interviews around the ‘East3Route’, promoting inter-regional trade, investment and tourism between South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique.

The yacht club buzzed with excitement as the sizeable TV and tourism contingent ‘took over’ the premises.

‘We were proud to host them and show off the wonderful amenities the club and the City have to offer visitors,’ said ZYC Commodore Rod Banwell.

‘At the same time, it makes us appreciate once again the privilege we have of living in this beautiful natural environment.’
