UPDATE: More support for destitute gogo

'We appeal for more companies and non-government organisations to assist'

MORE help is coming in for Gobandlovu pensioner Saraphina Mngomezulu (87) who was left devastated after her house was gutted by fire two weeks ago.

The gogo was left with only the clothes she was wearing after the fire destroyed all her possessions and the two-roomed house she shares with her granddaughter and four great grandchildren.

Last week various local businesses paid a visit to gogo’s house and handed over food parcels and other clothing material.

MPACT: Operations Felixton also committed itself to help rebuild Mngomezulu’s house. The company’s human resources manager Eric Dladla said they were touched by the story they read in the Zululand Observer.

‘Our visit here is aimed at assessing the extent of the damage and the living conditions of gogo Mngomezulu and her family.

‘We appeal for more companies and non-government organisations to assist,’ said Dladla.

Dladla was joined at gogo Mngomezulu’s house by CEO of Amakhedon Community Development, Bheki Shabane, who handed over groceries and blankets donated by Boxer Store.
