Rachel takes a jump ahead
This achievement has unfortunately come with huge expense
LOCAL equestrian rider Rachel Mahiyamu has become the first development rider selected by the SA National Equestrian Schools Association (SANESA) to represent the KZN A team at the SA Riding Championships to be held at Misty Meadows Equestrian Centre from 3 to 9 October.
Rachel and her trusty steed Marwick Rockefella, has been riding for her school, Empangeni Preparatory School, for the past year in the local and provincial tournaments.
She started her equestrian career at Dayspring Riding School before moving on to Alison Hyde.
She will be competing in eventing, a three-phase competition comprising dressage, show jumping and cross country (3 and 4 October), and dressage, showing classes of working riding horse, working hunter and show jumping (6-8 October).
But this achievement has unfortunately come with huge expense.
Rachel will need R14 000 to compete in the championships. Anyone willing to assist can contact Alison Hyde on 082 8084409.
