Support Santa Shoebox project

St Catherine's is the drop-off point for Empangeni and surrounding areas

THE 2016 Santa Shoebox Project is well underway at St. Catherine’s School through its Interact Club.

An initiative of the Kidz2Kidz Trust, a registered public benefit and non-profit organisation, the project allocates private donations received to prepare shoebox gift packs for disadvantaged children.

The school is the drop-off point for Empangeni and surrounding areas and all pupils participate, either doing fund-raising or donating items for the boxes.

Much more support is still needed to ensure that all intended recipients receive a filled shoebox this Christmas.

Remaining funds are used for the SSB Legacy Project and to train caregivers in community service skills.

This year the legacy project focuses on water by distributing Hippo Rollers to communities without running water, and 80 rollers have already been delivered to date.

‘Being part of the Santa Shoebox Project has been a wonderful experience for all at St. Catherine’s, not only with each shoebox that was covered and packed, but also making a difference in the lives of so many families during the dreadful water crisis our country is experiencing,’ said Interact Club coordinator Dierdre Bevan.
