Two injured in taxi collision

In the confusion, another vehicle hit the taxi, badly damaging its front

TWO female passengers, one pregnant, sustained minor injuries when a taxi failed to stop at a traffic light, slamming into a stationary vehicle.

The taxi, travelling on the John Ross Parkway during rush hour traffic on Thursday afternoon, was ferrying 15 commuters from Empangeni to Richards Bay.

The shaken passengers told the Zululand Observer the driver of the taxi was talking on his cell phone while driving, and when approaching the traffic lights, didn’t stop when the vehicle in front of it did so for the red light.

In the confusion, another vehicle hit the taxi, badly damaging its front.

Some of the injured passengers were treated on the scene by the KZN Emergency Medical Services’ Rapid Response Unit personnel.

The pregnant woman was rushed to Lower Umfolozi War Memorial Hospital and the rest to Ngwelezana Hospital.
