One paw out the door for jackal pups
The pups were transferred to CROW’s Yellowwood Park facility for rehabilitation

WILDLIFE conservationists celebrated the transfer of four side-striped jackal pups to a pre-release boma in the Hluhluwe area last month.
The pups, named Piper, Page, Hulk and Griffin, were discovered by cane cutters on a farm in Empangeni area late last year after their burrow caved in and collapsed.

Not wanting to interfere with nature and to ensure the pups were truly in need of rescue, the farmer waited a few days to see if their mother would return.
When the mother failed to return the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) was contacted, and after receiving the clear from Dr Geoffrey Fourie of Empangeni Veterinary Hospital, the pups were transferred to CROW’s Yellowwood Park facility, based in Durban, for rehabilitation.
