No easy life for Ncotshane residents
Residents also complain there is no refuse removal

THE residents of ward 10 (Ncotshane township) in Pongola face a bleak future because the RDP houses they moved into last year still don’t have water and electricity.
The houses, built on a dusty, flat piece of land surrounded by sugar cane fields, also have no clear boundaries between neighbours’ yards.
Even though they have ablution facilities inside their houses, occupants complain they are forced to use nearby bushes and sugar cane fields to relieve themselves.
‘This situation forces us to buy water from neighbours across the road who do have water connections, but they sometimes refuse to sell to us, compelling us to buy water from town,’ said one resident, Mama Nkwanyana.
Residents also complain there is no refuse removal.
Security is another bone of contention as the neighbourhood is not fenced off from the nearby sugar cane fields.
After doing washing residents have to sit outside and keep watch because their clothes are stolen while drying out on the line.
