TWO Brackenham families became the latest victims of house robberies over the weekend when a gang of criminals stormed into two different households on Saturday and Sunday evening.
Brackenham Community Crime Watch (BCCW) representative, Ray Govender, confirmed the robberies in Lobotium Street on Saturday and Extensia Angle Street on Sunday.
Five armed men invaded the property in Lobotium Street after 7pm and held the family at gunpoint, stole jewellery and household appliances and fled in their white bakkie which was parked outside the front gate.
‘The criminals jumped over the fence and damaged the gate to gain entry.
‘On Sunday six suspects in a white polo with a GP registration number used the same modus operandi and attacked the family after 7pm.
‘The criminals strike in the early evening when people have not yet activated their alarms.
‘We appeal to the Richards Bay SAPS to conduct moe patrols in the community in the early evenings as this is the time when families are being attacked,’ said Govender.
