‘Terror’ the pelican gets his mojo back

The rescue team who found the four-week-old injured bird in September last year

‘TERROR’ the great white pelican from Hlhuhluwe was successfully released last month after undergoing year-long rehabilitation at the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) in Durban.

The rescue team who found the four-week-old injured bird in September last year, believed he fell out of his nest. He sustained serious muscle injury to his wing which impaired his ability to fly.

After spending some time at the CROW clinic, Terror was eventually placed in a larger outdoor enclosure for a period of rehabilitation.

‘Terror is swimming well and doing great,’ said Marketing and Communications Officer Sharl Els.

‘He was released into a safe area at one of our regular release sites and we will continue to monitor him.’
