A 36-year-old hijacking suspect was shot by the police at Hangaza Reserve, Mbazwana on Sunday morning.
Police were searching for the man, suspected of being involved in a car hijacking case in Jozini.
Approached by the police, he disappeared between houses and the members called for back-up.
As more police hunted for him, he re-emerged from his hiding place and tried to escape while firing shots at the cops.
The police officers retaliated, shooting him in the arm.
He was arrested and taken to Mbazwana Clinic for treatment.
The accused is being detained at the Mbazwana police station holding cells pending further investigation.
