Shwashweni come out on top

SHWASHWENI Primary School’s U13 A soccer side clenched the Empangeni Prep Eagle Creek Spur and Build It Soccer Festival title on Saturday after beating Ingweni 2-1 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw in the final.
Ten local primary schools attended the popular annual tournament with the hopes of claiming the bragging rights for 2016.
The teams were split into two pools of five, where they competed in a round robin system, collecting 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw.
The top two sides of each pool qualified for the semi-finals.
Felixton College took on Ingweni in the first semi-final, which had to go down to penalties after a goalless draw.
Ingweni kept their cool and managed to book their spot in the final after beating Felixton 2-1.
The second semi-final saw Shwashweni ease through after beating Siyakhanyisa 2-0.
The schools that participated on the day were – Empangeni Preparatory, Felixton College, St Catherine’s, Shwashweni, Zululand Remedial, Grantham Park Primary, Empangeni Christian, Siyakhanyisa, Mandlankala and Ingweni.
