Bay college under investigation

MBCC Campus closed temporarily in Richards Bay

THE Maritime Business and Computer College (MBCC) in Richards Bay is legitimate despite the Department of Higher Education labelling it a ‘bogus’ institution not registered with the department.

According to media reports, the department shut down the institution last week and students at the MBCC Durban campus opened cases of fraud against the owner and demanded a refund of their tuition fees.

MBCC Chief Executive Officer Jay Ramkisoon says the Richards Bay campus has not closed down, but classes have been temporarily suspended for safety and security reasons.
