Schools volleyball league gets underway

The league will continue on Saturday at the uMhlathuze Regional Sports Complex volleyball courts

THE volleyball courts at the uMhlathuze Regional Sports Complex was a hive of activity at the weekend with the continuation of the uMhlathuze Schools League.

The action started with Empangeni High School (EHS) edging out Richem Secondary School 25-7 and 25-17 in the boys division.

In the second game, Richards Bay Secondary School had a tough three-setter tussle against league newcomers Gold Fishers, but eventually pulled off the win 25-13, 20-25 and 15-9.

They then continued with their fine form, beating EHS 25-11 and 25-22 in a game that produced brilliant teamwork.

In the girls section, Brackenham displayed good fighting spirit which left Richards Bay High School (Baaitjies) with no answers, beating them 14-25, 25-19 and 15-5.

In the last clash of the day, the Baaitjie boys narrowly went down to Gold Fishers in a thrilling three-setter (24-26, 25-21 and 14-16).

The league will continue on Saturday, 27 August at the uMhlathuze Regional Sports Complex volleyball courts from 9am.
