JERRY Bezuidenhout threw precision darts, nailing numerous bulls to carry his team to victory in the Empangeni Darts Sports League finals played on Wednesday evening at Hullets.

The Hullets player and his partner Chuch Pereira beat Empangeni Rugby Club’s (ERC) Richard Harvey and Chris Els in nomination killer and Naas Strydom and JP van der Westhuizen in 501 to claim two vital points for their team.

The night’s action started off with cricket, where ERC got bowled out for 160 in their first innings.

Hullets reached 260 before being bowled out, setting up a comfortable 100 run lead going into the second innings.

ERC managed 200 all out, leaving Hullets with 100 runs for victory.

They reached the required total for the loss of nine wickets to take an early 1-0 lead heading into nomination killer.

Hullets’ Ronnie McEwan closed 14 and 13 with two darts to beat Van der Westhuizen and Strydom to clinch a 2-0 lead for his side.

The home team’s form continued when Bezuidenhout closed 10 with two darts to beat Harvey and Els to extend the lead to 3-0.

Just when Hullets thought the game was in the bag, ERC captain Vleis van der Westhuizen and Mike Strydom beat Hullets captain Herman Steyn and Henning de Wet to put ERC on the board (3-1).

But that’s where the fight ended, as McEwan closed 16 (double 8) to beat Vleis and Mike in 501 to extend the lead to 4-1.
