LOCAL professional cage fighter Martin ‘The Diamond’ de Beer‘s next fight is against Jasen ‘Money’ van der Merwe in a bantamweight bout at EFC 53 on Friday, 2 September at Carnival City in Johannesburg.
The 25-year-old fights out of the Garage Boys stable in Empangeni and is trained by his dad Tienie.
The father and son duo have utilised his perfectly conditioned and agile martial arts skills, combined with his 61cm reach, to notch up four wins and only one loss.
Van der Merwe is still relatively new to the professional set-up, managing only one win in three fights.
His strength is jiu jitsu.
De Beer needs to fight to his strengths and preferably not go to ground if he wants to bag his fifth win.
