Rhino killed at Hluhluwe reserve

A GAME ranger patrolling the Thanda Mduna Game Reserve in Hluhluwe on Wednesday decided to follow hyena footprints, only to discover a dead White Rhino.

The rhino’s horn was removed and the carcass had multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the ranger, he had received a report from his superviser that one rhino had recently gone missing.

‘We opened a case of illegal hunting and this is being investigated by the Hluhluwe Stock Theft Unit,’ said KwaMsane SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe.
