Two arrested for canvassing at polling station
The ANC youth members were allegedly caught with 21 logos, after claiming they only had three.

MTUBATUBA police arrested comrades two ANC supporters, Nozipho Mncwango (24) and Sithembiso Sithole (27), for distributing party logos to elderly voters at the Evezobala polling station on election day.
The election process was halted for three hours as contesting political parties engaged in a heated argument concerning the already cast ballot papers of the voters handed the logos, with the alleged assistance of the canvassers inside the polling station.
The ANC youth members were allegedly caught with 21 logos, after claiming they only had three.
Other political parties suggested the particular ballot box should be sealed and a new one opened. ANC ballot papers in the sealed box should then be excluded.
Some suggested the number of logos found could be subtracted from the total number achieved by the ANC.
After consultation with the IEC, it was established that the law does not permit the box to be sealed, but the parties with objections were advised to lodge a formal complaint with the IEC.
The suspects appeared at Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and the case was postponed until Tuesday.
They were each released on R500 bail.
