Visiting US group promotes soccer

The main goal was to promote women’s football.

AMERICAN soccer tour group ‘Woza Soccer’ recently spent two weeks in Mtubatuba, partnering with Mtyubatuba Football Club to conduct local coaching clinics, academic training sessions and to compete in friendly matches.

The group consisted of eight players and three coaches who visited local schools and clubs within the surrounding townships and rural communities.

The main goal was to promote women’s football.

Five of the group’s players are currently involved in initiating a girls soccer programme in the KwaMsane Township.

Woza Soccer presented Mtubatuba Football Academy with equipment to help improve training facilities and individual players.

The tour ended with a fun soccer tournament held at the uMhlathuze Regional Sports Complex, where a combination of the Woza Soccer group and Mtubatuba Football Academy competed against local Richards Bay clubs, Bay United and Crusaders.
