Myeni promoted to chair Provincial Water Board

The utility’s interim CEO Ntlhoro Swaswa congratulated Myeni on her new role.

CHAIRPERSON for local utility Mhlathuze Water and South African Airways, Dudu Myeni, has been appointed to the role of transitional chairperson of the amalgamated Provincial Water Board.

The utility’s interim CEO Mthokozisi Duze congratulated Myeni on her new role.

‘We are humbled that this gigantic responsibility had been bestowed on our chairperson and we are looking forward to working with the new chair as we fulfil the constitutional imperative of ensuring that everyone enjoy access to safe drinking water and as we combat the worst drought in a generation.

‘Your wealth of experience, leadership skills and intellect will serve as an important lodestar as you embark on this critical journey of streamlining the operations of the existing water boards.’

Swaswa added that the decision to merge the existing water boards was made to speed up the response to challenges posed by the infrastructure backlogs, poor maintenance and ongoing drought in KZN.

‘While our multiple water boards have to date done a sterling job in the management of scarce water resources, more work still need to be done.

‘We are looking forward to working closely with the board to address the most pressing water-related challenges, particularly the limited supply of water to consumers and businesses as a result of wide-ranging water cuts.’
