Zah is reaching new heights

The dream started when she was recently approached by GX Marketing to be one of their top models.

DESPITE being teased for her height, Lindeka Zamambatha ‘Zah’ Shandu (27) knew one day it would open doors and make her dreams come true.

The first thing you notice when you meet Zah is her height, followed by her appetite for life and wide bright smile which fills the room.

And now this down-to-earth news anchor is using all these qualities to make a statement and rock the fashion world.

The eMandeni-born newshound now turned model recently landed her biggest modelling gig of her life.

The dream started when she was recently approached by GX Marketing to be one of their top models.

She soon posed for the camera, capturing photos for their fashion spread to be featured inside the August issue of Beads magazine.

‘I’ve always wanted to model and people have always asked me why I am not one. I guess my eyesight has always discouraged me. But now I see a future,’ she said.

‘My experience doing this shoot is one I’ll never forget. I loved every minute of it and surprisingly everything came naturally to me. I didn’t struggle with any poses, which is what I think motivated me to pursue a modelling career,’
This journalism and media studies graduate from Damelin College says even though she never liked her height when she was young, she soon embraced it.

‘Growing up I have always hated my height. I didn’t like the fact that I was taller than my classmates which made me look older than everyone. Every time we took class photos I had to stand at the back with the boys.’

However, despite all that she is now one of the few professional models from the region.

‘I love how people look at me in awe and the statement I make whenever I enter a room.’

Zah says her height also works to her advantage as it intimidates guys.

‘I always know when a guy approaches me that it really took guts,’ she said jokingly.
