Zululand wins the prestigious Laurie Dunker Squash Tournament on home soil
THE Zululand squash sides smashed through stiff provincial competition to win the prestigious Laurie Dunker Squash Tournament on home soil over the weekend.
The annual competition was played on Friday and Saturday at the Veldenvlei Squash Club and Richards Bay Country Club squash courts.
A total of 64 players hailing from Zululand, Newcastle and Vanderbijlpark as well as the Gijima Invitational Side pushed each other to the maximum on the courts.
However the fast games and scintillating action on the courts, it was the friendships and camaraderie off the courts that stood out.
Results
A division – Zululand 69 points, Gijima Invitational side 52 points, Newcastle 29 points and Vanderbijlpark 11 points
B division – Zululand 68 points, Newcastle 52 points, Gijima Invitational side 36 points and Vanderbijlpark 10 points
